Last weekend my childhood best friend came into town to visit me from North Carolina. After some indecision, my parents finally convinced me to book a night on the River Walk of San Antonio while they watched Ben! It was my first night away from my baby, and it was a blast. We stayed at the Hotel Contessa.
The Hotel Contessa was classy, stylish and elegant. It was located about a three minute walk from all of the action of the River walk. The room was large, with comfortable beds and a large separate living room with couches and a mini fridge. We had a view of the street. The downstairs bar was cozy and classy.
Bottom line: I would definitely recommend Hotel Contessa.
San Antonio is definitely something to see during the month of December since they put thousands of beautiful twinkling Christmas lights up. The pictures don’t do it justice. It looks pretty magical.
After checking out the lights, we went bar hopping. The first place we went was The River’s Edge for some tasty Margaritas. I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita which was delicious.
After that we headed to The Worm Mezcal and Tequila Bar. This bar seemed cool in concept. The menu was dedicated to different kinds of Tequila drinks and it had a nice terrace overlooking the River with a great view of the lights, however it was completely dead and lacking in atmosphere! Next, we went to Mad Dogs British Pub which was much more lively and a blast. There were lots of people and plenty of places to sit, but also great music.
The last bar we went to was Havana Ultra Lounge. It had great music and seemed like a great place to go if you want to booty dance on people, but I’m a little too old and married for that, so we left after five minutes and went back to the hotel!
The next morning, we met up with my family and Ben at Mi Tierra’s Cafe for breakfast. This restaurant is a must if you are ever in San Antonio. It looks so festive and makes you feel like you’re in Mexico.
Mi Tierra’s is located in Market Square which has many cute shops. It was so nice to meet up with my family after a night out.
It was a great weekend with my long lost friend and it reminded me how much culture San Antonio has to offer!
